Claire Bataille and Paul ibens studied together at the Henry Van de Velde Institute in Antwerp where they both received greatest destinction in 1962. In 1968 they decided to work together ; 44 years later they are still partners. From 2012 onward, Claire Bataille and Paul ibens join forces with Brussels based architects Laurence Vander Elst and Grégory Wantiez. The association promises to be a dynamic new adventure with their combined creativity, sense of quality and esthetics, and their techniques experience resulting in fascinating new projects. The bureau specializes in interior architecture of houses, shops and offices, but equally in the design of private and public buildings. They are mostly working in Belgium, but also in other European countries and the United States. Their work has been published and exhibited extensively all over the world. Today their team consists of five collaborators. The office is bilingual Dutch/ French, but projects in English can be handled as well without difficulties.
From the beginning of their cooperation, the furniture of Claire Bataille and Paul ibens was produced internationally. In the beginning of the 90’s, requests for new designs came from several Belgian manufacturers. Those collaborations became a great success. Because they always strive to master the interior in its smallest details is probably the reason that brought them to design objects. These are contemporary, but mostly find their inspiration in the ‘Golden Rule’ which is considered as the ideal proportion. ... More ... less
