Remote control taps

Remote control taps are an ideal solution to fulfill specific aesthetic and or spatial conditions. Particularly useful for bathtubs and showers, remote control taps allow to control the water flow even if water is not supplied by a water connection. This is the reason why they are combined with spout taps which functions they control. In some cases, due to functional or aesthetic requirements it is recommended to purchase spout taps and remote control taps separately.

When it is recommended to opt for a remote control tap?

Next to design, remote control tap are useful for space reasons.
Wall-mounted remote control taps serve their function at the best as they use the proximity of the bathroom fixtures to the walls. It is a handy installation as it leaves free space on the deck. This type of taps are also comfortable to be used on washbasins and bidets. At the same time, just like normal wall-mounted taps, they are to be installed by using the holes that were made during the water sanitation system installation and imply more massive masonry works in case of replacement.
Deck-mounted remote control taps usually feature a compact design to blend in well with the deck of the fixture where they are to be installed. This type of taps have a more peculiar look so to serve also as a decorative element of design. As they are separate from water supply, their replacement implies lower costs.
Both versions can be used alone as mixers, in combination with the spout tap only, or in more pieces, with individual rosettes, shower or the bathtub sets. In this case it is important to make sure the handles are easy to use and do not clash with each other.

From vintage to contemporary. Freedom of style

The style of remote control taps is a personal thing. It adjusts to the style of the other taps, fixtures and of the bathroom as a whole. There are therefore endless styles, form the typical vintage to the modern one. They often come in simple geometrical shapes like cylinders, or with assisted grip like handles and levers, useful with wet hands or people with limited prehensile abilities.
Back to what pure style is concerned, plain geometrical shapes recall an idea of modern and contemporary design; especially if decorated, levers are typical of a classic style, while depending on the cases, handles can add a more industrial touch to the bathroom space. There is ample freedom of choice also with regards to materials. Just like for other taps, it is common to find brass remote control taps. These products can come in a variety of finishes; lacquered, glossy-brushed or chromed; with decorative elements in resin, glass, plastic materials or porcelain. Alternatively, for more enduring and superior quality remote control taps, it is possible to opt for stainless steel remote control taps. These are normally finished with glossy, glazed or brushed surfaces.

Remote control taps. Functionality and maintenance

Remote control taps, just like other taps, are used on a daily basis by all the family members. While choosing a remote control tap it is therefore important to take into account its durability over time, especially in order to avert leakages and replacements.
For an optimal and long term functioning few small and basic actions are important to be performed for maintenance and cleaning. Especially if the there are particular finishes on the surface, the exterior part of the control needs to be wiped with a soft and non-abrasive sponge, with water and a neutral soap. The use of excessively aggressive, too acid or too basic detergents is discouraged. Following these recommendations a remote control tap and taps in general last more than a decade without the need of more invasive interventions.
