The toilet seat (or toilet cover) is an element to be combined with the sanitary fittings and consists of a toilet seat and a protective cover. It is usually fixed to the toilet structure by a metal support with two fixed hinges.
From a technical point of view it is a simple object, but it is important not to neglect the details. It is true that in everyday use the toilet seat is an inconspicuous object, in fact, you could say that its merits are manifested in its discretion, and then revealed in its comfort.
All manufacturers of sanitary ware have learned that, especially in the bathroom, everyone wants to enjoy a high level of comfort. This important requirement is met with a wide choice of models, with well thought-out features and well-designed accessories.
Even more important than comfort is certainly the hygiene factor. First of all, it is important to look at the various types of seats available to assess which one fits the toilet model in question. To choose the model of the WC seat, the external profile of the sanitary ware must be compared with commercially available templates.
It is essential to carefully choose the design and shape of the seat, because if the shape does not coincide with that of the pot, the seat rubbers will not be positioned correctly. Once the shape of the toilet seat has been established, the geometrical parameters, the position of the hinges (vertical, horizontal or oblique) and the way the seat is fixed to the toilet bowl (through screw and nut or with expansion screw and dowel) must be evaluated.
To slow down the closure and avoid abrupt impacts, damage to the toilet bowl or the toilet cover itself, manufacturers also offer cushioned toilet seats.

The choice of material for the WC seat

The WC seat can be made of various materials and therefore with different and distinct characteristics. The choice has to be made mainly according to use - private rooms or public bathroom? - but also according to your aesthetic preferences.
As the most economical choice the market offers the plastic toilet seat, for example in ABS, polypropylene, thermosetting or polyester. In particular, Duroplast WC seats are high-performance, stress-resistant and above all hygienic thanks to their non-porous surface. With a rigid and smooth surface, they give the touch a feeling very similar to ceramics and remain unchanged over time.
For lovers of "warm" materials, on the other hand, we recommend WC seats in wood, MDF or solid wood or covered with resin. Different types are available, often also in different finishes and shades.
Where sturdiness, abrasion resistance, longevity and ease of maintenance are important, we can opt for thermoplastic resin WC seats. The particular characteristics of this material make these elements particularly suitable for schools, hospitals and high attendance bathrooms in general.
